DESCRIPTION

Our adventure begins in MEDELLÍN, one of the coolest cities of the world, accompanied by a fun and charismatic tour guide. Our MOMENTS will be so UNIQUE and MEMORABLE that we will feel like true ‘Chocoanos’.

We will be delighted by the magnificent view of an innovative city that has a permanent spring weather and is the gateway to the Colombian west side and that is currently focused on the social and urban transformation, integration of nature into the city, creativity and culture, leisure, fashion, and gastronomy; a city that is capable of generating unique experiences.

Then, we will fly to Bahia Solano, a municipality located in the Pacific Coast, in the biodiverse CHOCÓ Department to visit as well El Valle municipality, the exuberant cove in UTRIA NNP.  We will hike through Playa Larga to get to September Tortugario Station and the Natural Waterfalls.

Living authentic eco and ethnic tourism experiences is a must in this program that looks for getting the utmost of CHOCÓ’S BIODIVERSITY… Paddling upstream in a canoe to visit the Embera Indigenous Communities, riding a boat to Mecana Beach, relaxing with the amazing contrasting colors of the Green of the JUNGLE and the blue of the SEA; all these experiences in a spectacular journey to observe flora and fauna, hosted by the exotic Chocoan species.

DAY 1: CITY OF ORIGIN – MEDELLÍN or BOGOTÁ (Welcome to the City of Eternal Spring / Colombi’as Capital City)

ACTIVITIES:
Reception at the JOSE MARÍA CÓRDOVA International airport in Río Negro, check in the Hotel, Welcome dinner if the itinerary allows.

DAY 2. MEDELLÍN – BAHÍA SOLANO (The Choco adventure begins)

STAGES: Medellin – Bahia Solano
ACTIVITIES:

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • We will transfer to Medellin’s local airport, Enrique Olaya Herrera; we will take a domestic flight to the Chocó Department, to Bahia Solano Municipality.
  • We will transfer from the José Celestino Mutis airport to the Rocas de Cabo Marzo, check- in.
  • Traditional lunch in one of the allied restaurants of the community to support their regional economy.
  • In the afternoon, we will take a tour of natural waterfalls, with the company of a guide.
  • At night, we will have dinner and share the idiosyncrasy of natives and locals, lodging.

DAY 3. ENSENADA DE UTRIA – NNP (Live up close the animal migration of different species, breathe in natural air and relax in the midst of the jungle)

STAGES: Utría Cove NNP
ACTIVITIES:

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • We will take a TUK TUK (a regional mean of transportation) to el Valle Corregimiento, once there, we will ride a boat to Ensenada De Utría National Park, a wonderful bay chosen by whales to teach their young baby is how to swim.
  • When in season (Jun-Oct) and if you are lucky, you will witness the exuberant and imposing beauty of YUBARTA WHALES, Come and witness this miracle of nature.
  • In Utría, we will meet the park’s guides who will give us an eco-talk to introduce us to the biodiversity of the place.
  • Afterwards they will take us on a tour around the park’s trails and mangroves, where you will be able to observe the parks variety of Fauna, Flora and vegetation.
  • Utría Natural National Park is an ancient territory for afrodescendants who depend on the goods and services supplied by the protected area.
  • You will find an exuberant tropical jungle that receives migratory species of birds and whales. Where the beautiful cove grows and decreases with the tides.
  • Traditional lunch in one of the allied restaurants of the community to support their regional economy.
  • You will have some free time to enjoy the sea.
  • Return by boat, dinner and lodging.

DAY 4. ECO-PASEO TO (Mecana Beach)

STAGES: Mecana Beach
ACTIVITIES:

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • We will take a TUK TUK to the dock, where we will take a boat to Mecana Beach.
  • If the tides allow, you can walk along the beach among rivers and mangroves, (1:30 hour).
  • Coconut water, bath.
  • Mecana is one of Bahia Solano’s Corregimientos and its located north of the head of the Municipality.
    On its surroundings, you can take on multiple activities, such as:

  • Snorkeling.
  • Fishing.
  • Trekking.
  • Tour guide.
  • Traditional lunch in one of the allied restaurants of the community to support their regional economy.
  • You will find the Pacific’s Wild Life Sanctuary.
  • We will visit Botanical Garden.
  • Ride on a traditional canoe through mangroves.
  • In the afternoon, we will take a boat back to Bahia Solano, (15 minutes).
  • Dinner and lodging.

DAY 5. PLAYA LARGA – (TORTUGARIO Spawning in season)
STAGES: September Station or Tortugario
ACTIVITIES:

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • We will take a transfer in TUK TUK to the Valle Corregimiento, where we will take a tour lasting (2 Hrs approx.). Through beach and jungle till we get to Station September or Mama Orbe Tortugario.
  • We might get to see the sea turtles and set them free in the months between June and February, who go to el Valle beaches to spawn.
  • Tour guide.
  • Traditional community lunch in Mama Orbe Family Eco Farm, the Pinilla family knows, teaches and takes care of the environment surrounding them.
  • Enjoy the whale season, the tortoises, the cuisine, the ocean and the beach, the rivers, sport fishing and many more experiences. The only bad thing that could happen is that you might not want to leave!.
  • Dinner.
  • Lodging.

DAY 6. UPSTREAM CANOE (Through Tundó River, to visit Community & Biodiversity)
STAGES: Tundó River
ACTIVITIES:

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • We will take a TUK TUK to el Valle Corregimiento. Right next to el Valle there is the Tundó River whose crystal waters slide through the jungle, a shelter for a big part of the world’s biodiversity.
  • Francisco will be one of your two hosts, who will accompany you to this adventure; they will take you through the river and will share their knowledge of birds and animals, of local Riverside communities and this jungle’s stories. ! Live an experience that will connect you to nature!.
  • Tour Guide.
  • Traditional lunch in one of the allied restaurants of the community to support their regional economy.
  • Return by canoe to el Valle and from there on a TUK TUK to Bahia Solano.
  • Dinner and lodging.
  • Depending on the tides (high tide preferably) you will be able to enjoy el Almejal beach in the morning to return to BHS around 5 pm.

DAY 7. WALK THROUGH THE JUNGLE (El Almejal) Waterfalls at the bay
STAGES: El Valle Jungle
ACTIVITIES:

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • We will go with our tour guide to all waterfalls surrounding the bay.
  • You will enjoy the waterfalls, and the sea, which is just 5 minutes away.
  • Walk around the jungle’s great trees, there is also a Virgin Mary’s balcony to take pictures of the bay.
  • Love Natural Pool and a trail to virgin beaches.
  • You will be able to enjoy the sea and its calm waters as there are no strong waves.
  • Ride on TUK TUK to el Valle Corregimiento.
  • We will enter the jungle behind el Almejal beach, next to el Valle. Today, the jungle is a preservation temple, but not many years ago; this was the most craved place for hunters.

Today, tour guides are the former hunters of the Region; the animals are not to be hunted. ! However, to be observed, the hunting trails became trails for eco-tourism and your visit helps the community have sustainable opportunities to protect the ecosystems and not destroying them!

  • This hike will push you into the jungle, accompanied by a true expert in its secrets, an expert in footprints, sounds and species.
  • You will see poisonous frogs, birds, iguanas, monkeys, some rodents, and the Pacific Ocean’s immensity from the mountain, refreshing waterfalls in the middle of the jungle, little creeks and so much more.
  • Tour guide.

  • Return from el Valle on a TUK TUK to Bahia Solano, dinner and lodging.

DAY 8. BAHÍA SOLANO – MEDELLÍN or BOGOTÁ (Return)
STAGES: Medellin
ACTIVITIES:

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • In the morning, we will go to the José Celestino Mutis local airport; we will take a short flight back to Medellin.
  • Reception at the Enrique Olaya Herrera airport.
  • Transfer to the hotel, check-in or end of service.
