DESCRIPTION

We will start in BOGOTÁ, the Colombian capital, accompanied by a fun and charismatic tour guide. Our MOMENTS will be so unique and MEMORABLE that we will feel like true ‘ Bogotanos ‘. We will fly to PASTO, “Colombia’s Surprise City” to be among the Kamentsa people and appreciate their religious architecture from colonial and republican eras. We will visit the Ñambi River Natural Reserve to enjoy some bioluminescent plant species unique in the world. Then, we will go to El Encanto District to take a boat ride on La Cocha Lagoon, stopping at Corota Island’s flora and fauna Sanctuary to be amazed by their animal and plant diversity and be surprised with the scenic beauty of the ENCANTO ANDINO DE LA COCHA Natural Reserve.

Later on, we will fly to POPAYÁN, ‘Colombia’s White city’ to visit its colonial buildings. This city is known for its popular ceremonies during Holy Week and the best-preserved historic center in Latin America. We will visit LAS VILLAS AGRO PARK and go to the Biosphere Heritage Reserve, a PURACE Ecotourism area in which we might get to see the ANDEAN CONDOR, enjoy thermal baths, wetlands, waterfalls, frailejon valleys, visit a sulfur mine and the volcano’s foothills. The volcano rises from the Coconucos’ volcanic chain formed by 11 of them, from which the most well- known are Pan de Azucar, Coconucos, and El Puracé that is the only one active nowadays.

We will go to Cali, LA SULTANA DEL VALLE (‘Sultana of the Valley’), to appreciate its architecture and buildings, which are a national monument. We will head to LA SUCURSAL DEL CIELO (‘Heaven’s Branch Office’) where we will visit the SUGARCANE MUSEUM and HACIENDA PARAÍSO MUSEUM. We will take a fun and traditional ride on ‘brujitas’, (ball-bearing cars that slide on train tracks). We will do Canopy when visiting el Salto waterfall, visit an organic farm, Follajes y Flores, and walk along nature trails and visit El Sol y Luna Museum of Pre-Columbian Art.

In CALI, known as well as the ‘Salsa Capital’, we cannot miss the CIPRIANO FOREST RESERVE to observe waterfalls and local fauna, crystal waters and, the density of the forest.

Finally, on a motorboat we will go to GUAPI, a natural and biodiverse paradise on the Pacific Coast; we’ll visit GORGONA ISLAND Natural National Park and its virgin beaches: Palmeras and Yundingua. We will return to Cali to end this true adventure.

DAY 1: ORIGIN – BOGOTÁ (Welcome Dinner)

DAY 2: PASTO ‘SURPRISE CITY’ (Museum Visits, Squares, Temples and Artisanal Centers)

  • Leaving to El Dorado airport in Bogotá.
  • We will take a domestic flight to Pasto arrival to Antonio Nariño Airport in Chachagüí and later leave to Pasto. Share with the Kamentsá people their history and the importance of their legacy, culture and worldview.

DAY 3: ‘ÑAMBI RIVER NATURAL RESERVE’

STAGES: Ñambi River
ACTIVITIES:

  • We will go to the Ñambi River Natural Reserve, located over the Pacific slope of the Nude of the pastos, on the Andes Mountains, where the altitude and latitude are right in the central range of Biogeographic Chocó, between 1100 and 1900 m.a.s.l (meters above sea level). Birds are among the most representative and studied groups living in Rio Ñambi (356 sp.); here, one of the most diverse (31) and complex communities of hummingbirds in the world coexist. Besides, this zone shelters a large number of endemic species, a total of 44, and endangered species (22), thus being one of the natural reserves with the most endemic species on the planet, and one that is a conservation priority.

Guamuéz Lagoon or La Cocha, which means ‘lagoon’ in the Quechuan language, is the largest in Colombia and is home to an invaluable amount of animal and plant species; on its surroundings there are more than fifty natural reserves that look for this ecosystem’s conservation, as well as sustainable ways of exploiting the beauty of the place that have the least impact on the fragile natural balance.

DAY 7: EXCURSION ON THE PURACÉ NATIONAL PARK (Natural Reserve)

  • We will visit one of the most important ecosystems today, the páramo; among the main attractions, there is the Puracé Volcano with an approximate height of 4600 m.a.s.l, big lagoons where rivers are born, frailejon valleys.

The capital of Valle del Cauca is the third most important in Colombia, here, one can appreciate the churches and buildings’ architecture, which are now national monuments.   • 2 hour and a half trip from Cali to San Cipriano.
  • Visit the “Forest Reserve Protector of the Escarete and San Cipriano rivers”. They are, without a doubt, the most beautiful rivers with the clearest waters in all Valle del Cauca. Green Landscapes and a lot of humidity, it is the second most humid region of the world. Charming locals, adventure, nature, flora and fauna, waterfalls, ponds and delicious food, make for a truly unforgettable experience.
