CARTAGENA - BOTANIC GARDEN

Cartagena

Learn about the flora and fauna of the Caribbean coast. The botanic garden Guillermo Piñeres of Cartagena was founded in 1978 in order to explore and preserve the fauna and flora of the Caribbean coast. It is located 15 km southeast of Cartagena, close to the township Turbaco. At 1600 m², the botanic garden offers a great variety of plants and flowers, vegetation, and giant old trees. Also, the park is the home of free living howler monkeys, poison dart frogs, turtles, parrots, sloths, bats, foxes, rabbits, squirrels, birds, iguanas, snakes, and insects.

The journey from Cartagena to the Botanic Garden will last about an hour. There, a Colombian botanist will welcome us and will guide us for about 1,5 - 2 hours through the garden. The guide will answer all our questions and give us a great insight into the flora and fauna of the Caribbean region. If you want, we will go to a nearby restaurant, where we can take a dip in the pool and have lunch (lunch not included). After lunch, we will go back to Cartagena.
