Itinerary
Day 1: Sonsón – The cultural heart of Antioquia
After a 2 hour drive through lush Andean highlands you arrive in the idyllic town of Sonsón located beside the impressive Páramo of Sonsón. On a village tour you learn more about the history of Sonsón and understand the importance of the town for the so-called „Paisa Culture“. Its historic centre is in almost perfect conditions and many of the old traditions are still alive in Sonsón. On a guided tour through the village with a local historian get closer to the Andean Paisa soul.
Day 2: Hike through pristine Andean landscapes and local farmer communities
On a hike to a waterfall experience the daily small-scale farmer culture first hand. Sonsón is still home of plenty of traditional family-run farms growing onions, potatoes and several kinds of tropical fruits. The nature reserve “Páramo de Sonsón” provides the region with the best conditions for this kind of traditional agriculture. In the afternoon drive back to the city of Medellín.
